Homelessness in America

Homelessness in America seems like a sad excuse for people not doing what they should be doing. In other words, you have people that are homeless in a country that is considered land of opportunity. You would think this should not be a problem in America but it is. There are people who are lazy and do not work when they are able to. You have others who are working but they don’t make enough money for a roof over their head. This is not to say every homeless person in America is lazy. It is unfortunate there are people willing to work but they have yet to find a job or they lost their job and couldn’t keep up with financial responsibilities.

Homelessness in America is a problem for multiple reasons. You have companies that pay their employees too little. You have people trying to live above their means only to run into financial ruin. You have people not making enough money to support themselves or their family. Even the number of children and teens being homeless is on the rise. There are people truly struggling and have tried different options but they still don’t have a place to call home. You have laws that make things seem a little looney and confusing.

People who are homeless in America have different backgrounds. Some are homeless because they didn’t do what they should have done to keep their home. Some engaged in illegal activity or had their family turn their back on them. Few may not have a home but they live in their vehicle. Some may not make it to the shelter in time to get a bed to sleep in for the night. Even though there are times a person can be homeless for legitimate reasons, you still wonder what happened to a person that got them in this situation.

Supposedly there are regulations and laws on the political front that includes reducing the rate of homelessness. Some people are able to get assistance from government programs to help them get back on their feet. But what do you do with those that feel they are not worthy to be hired by a company. There seems to be problems even politicians can’t work out or seem to ignore that is making this issue worse. The country seems rich enough as it is so homelessness should not be a problem in the first place.
